Ah, the road… nothing better than driving very fast and very far knowing there is something of such amazement on the other end just waiting to pull you in.
Last night was the CD101 show in Columbus, Ohio. Normally a 4 hour drive. I got there in a little over 3. I traveled alone (no one wants to be with me for that long, I don’t blame them), and arrived just a bit after 5. Two friends from Dayton were there as well, so I wasn’t completely alone.
Starting off was “Rock Kills Kid”. I missed a few of their songs, but from what I did hear, they were okay. However, I will hold off judgment on them. The following band, “Bril”, sucked. I say that with complete confidence in offending no one. I was glad when their set ended, and apparently, a few folks around us were too. Now, to the good stuff… “Nine Black Alps” rocked, and I finally got into the show. This was the first time hearing anything from them, and now I’m set on buying their record. Great performance. Finally, Columbus’s own “The Sun” takes the stage. Much like “Nine Black Alps“, I have never heard any from “The Sun”… And much like Nine, they won me over. That’s two new records I shall get. They were GREAT. So good I wanted them to keep playing and delay the “Dresden Dolls” a bit… right. However, I quickly came to my senses once Amanda and Brian stormed the stage.
They played ‘Sex Changes’, ‘First Orgasm’, ‘Missed Me’, ‘Half Jack’, ‘Sing’, ‘Girl Anachronism’, ‘Coin-Operated Boy’, “Modern Moonlight”, and covers of “War Pigs” and something else which was wickedly good, but I don’t know the name of.. Erm. Silly me. Best thing ever. I am certainly seeing them again in Cincinnati, July 11th..even if I do have to stand through “Panic! At the Disco”.
Oh. I kinda blacked out after their set. I’ve been sick all week, and by this time, we have been standing, and jumping, and dancing for… say…. 5+ hours already. It’s was hot. So, I stumbled my way to the restroom and got some cold water. It sucked because I had to miss being on the floor for “Ok Go!” with Katy and Rachel, but I did stay and watch from the back. They were great…funny… entertaining… and wickedly cool. However, I was pissed at myself for being sick and not being able to enjoy them as much as the others. Oh well. Great 7 hour show for just $5.
I won’t be sick in July, and I’m brigading for sure. Current Mood: exhausted

I bought tickets to 'The Dresden Dolls' and 'OK Go' show in Columbus, Ohio on the 8th of April.
And my quest for a tag-along-er begins. Again. Gosh. I suck.
I’m going to Joseph-Beth’s today. I need new material.
The end.
PS. I need friends. No one listens. No one hears anything. No one sees it. I'm fading fast.
The end. Again. Current Mood: lonely

Alone at the KY tonight. I watched MirrorMask. The second movie this week that I have seen at the KY theatre which has left me a tad confused, but overall satisfied. Both were visually stunning. The other movie being Russian horror/sci-fi ‘NightWatch’.
Taken from IMDB: MirrorMask centers on Helena, a 15 year old girl in a family of circus entertainers, who often wishes she could run off and join real life. After a fight with her parents about her future plans, her mother falls quite ill and Helena is convinced that it is all her fault. On the eve of her mother's major surgery, she dreams that she is in a strange world with two opposing queens, bizarre creatures, and masked inhabitants. All is not well in this new world - the white queen has fallen ill and can only be restored by the MirrorMask, and it's up to Helena to find it. But as her adventures continue, she begins to wonder whether she's in a dream, or something far more sinister.
Solid acting, fantastic story telling and direction, amazing visuals. Fun times, but it would have been better if I had company. Back home now, 3:00 AM ..wishing I could have dreams like Helena. Dreams to escape this current dead-end life.
I may find my way at the Y for “Harry and the Potters”, “petticoat, petticoat”, and other local bands. That’s if I can find someone to go with. Being out and alone is better than being home and alone, but it gets depressing, and sometimes I just want to sleep all day and never wake up, so maybe I’ll do that tomorrow.
Some DVDs to look forward to this week are: “A History of Violence“, “Good Night, and Good Luck“, and The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio”. All in my rental queue, for sure.
I watched “Good Night, and Good Luck” at the KY a few months ago. Brilliant movie, and a must buy.
Sleep is calling me. Current Mood: depressed

Last night was Belle & Sebastian. No, they did not play my three favorite songs, but the show was still fantastic. In fact, I didn't care what they played; every song was brilliant.
The New Pornographers, minus Neko Case, opened up with tracks from 'Twin Cinema' and 'Electric Version'. They were good, but we want Neko!
Not much to report right now. I had a blast thursday night at the Brown Theatre. I'm glad I went. I met some great people, and experienced two great bands.
I am off for now. Possibly to the KY theatre.. alone. MirrorMask anyone? Current Mood: energetic
